A Little About Me
I’m an Indiana-born artist, currently working toward my Bachelor’s degree in Painting at Herron School of Art & Design. Most of my work is in oil paint, and I use it to explore the emotional landscape of motherhood. My paintings come from my own experiences, but I hope they reach beyond me and connect with others through memory and nostalgia. I’m often inspired by my own childhood and by the days I spent raising my kids. What I want most is to capture moments of tenderness, resilience, and the everyday beauty of family life. When I paint, I work in layers, with brushstrokes and marks that are sometimes loose and imperfect. I think of it as a kind of meditation—building up the surface slowly until it feels like the blur of memory. I often leave bits of graphite showing or small areas of canvas bare. For me, that’s both a way of letting go of perfection and a symbol of how memories are fleeting and never whole. You can never hold onto every detail without missing the next moment. Through this process, I hope my work gives people a moment to pause and reflect on their own lives. Even though my paintings are tied to my children and my own journey, they’re really about the universal longing to hold onto small, meaningful moments before they slip away. If my work sparks recognition, nostalgia, or warmth in someone else, then I feel like it’s done what it was meant to do.
